Not really getting the hype



Weezer is one of my favorite bands don't get me wrong, and this is their best release of the last few, but it doesn't stand out to me from say Green and Maladroit

Why does this website hate Green so much? Green's a hard 4.

Maladroit is the worst Weezer album, and it gets a 2.8.

green is just gummy bullshit, he purposefully took all the honesty out of the music and just made a catchy pop album

Please don't misunderstand me here; I absolutely love EWBAITE, but it's pretty clear to me that Rivers manufactured an album to sound like Weezer's earlier material. He gave the fans what they wanted to hear instead of continuing in the style he was going before. That's a pretty plastic move, even if the result is solid.

Does that make sense?

idk this one isn't as cheery as green, it has more emotion to it i guess. green just seemed like it wanted to be happy pop songs but this feels more like weezer's first s/t, even if it's kinda derivative i still dig it
