I don't love these guys, but their music has good intentions. A bit of GnR, Iron Maiden, and Metallica in their music doesn't hurt, and I respect that. They also haven't made the same album twice, which does show their openness of trying new things (even if it isn't always good). I think the biggest problem people have with them (aside from not liking their music) is that they are unfairly compared to other bands of modern times without looking at the differences. Guilt of association so to speak. Their contemporaries play music embedded by modern trends, but A7X's music is firmly rooted in dad rock/metal, and it shows. The maiden harmonic breakdowns, the Hetfield/Rose vocal style, the classic speed metal patterns, the 80's style ballads, you name it. Not all their music is good, but they should not be totally dismissed by their misfires and their guilt of association. The big division line between hardcore fanboys and hardcore haters doesn't do any favors for these matters either(just like other big bands).

As you can tell, I'm no fanboy of these guys, but I have to defend a band (whether or not I love them) if they receive unfair hatred. Truth is, you either love or hate their music, but that is no excuse for finding bullshit reasons to demean them.

From a musical perspective, I like this for the most part. I can't dig it like other people can because it has things I don't like about it, but it is a good album overall.

Definitely not a 5. This isn't 5 worthy. I'm not that fanboyish with 5's unless it's really fucking good.

It's solid for sure. Solid.

Their self-titled is nostalgic to me, but I still give it a 3.5 at best. City Of Evil is their defining moment if you ask me.
