I love the NES Boss-level keyboards in Big Business so much.
Makes me want to jump-stomp a fire-breathing turtle.

Really amazed that this kind of sound can be pulled off with taste and skill. Dunno why I don't hate it, but I really don't.

from what I have seen in the documentary and interviews these are some really smart dudes who detest the majority of the bands they're clumped together with, not fond of the while 'nintendocore' label either. but a lot of people hear metal and keys, pass.
the stupid fucking name doesn't help

'not fond of the while 'nintendocore' label either'
They can't be upset about that. They have a power glove sound byte on an earlier record (Cuts Man, I think) and actual Mario noises on this album (The Failure of All Things, I think.) The only reason to be bothered by that is that they are much more than a Nintendo-core band. But, they clearly don't take themselves too seriously, so I don't see reason to be bothered.

Also, on the topic at hand they literally have songs called 'Cutsman' and 'Big Blue' Violence and a lot of fantasy themed song titles and samples that only further propagate the nintendocore stereotype. Its unfortunate, but the association of 8-bit keys and metal being clumped in the 'nintendocore' tag is obviously the fault of their earlier career not trying to take itself as seriously as they take themselves on this record. They really have no one to blame but themselves.
Its a shame, however, since the genre tag people attribute to these guys is probably one of the biggest factors to why not many people listen to them as most artists in the genre are terrible.

dismissing artists because of their names or labels is really dumb

It is, but it happens. I just tell people they're a metalcore band heavy on 8-Bit keyboards... so... nintendocore is a natural comparison. I can't name any other nintendocore bands other than maybe Iamerror, because anything I heard was an immediate, 'no thanks.'

I mean, it's not great, but I didn't think Trout Yogurt (ugh) was a terrible album. I wasn't clamoring for more or anything.
