Ok, ruins is a bit harsh, but I'm not a fan of that.
Whole album has definitely grown on me though, it's really interesting to here the blueprints of where Mark Hollis would take them from here, even if it has occasional moments of slight 80s cheese. "Life's What You Make It" seems to be the most famous song here but it's probably my least favorite. "I Don't Believe In You", "April 5th", and the last three tracks are where it's at.

Do I? I mean I don't feel like I'm too picky about vocals but a vocal style that doesn't appeal to me can definitely ruin something I like everything else about. To be fair though vocals that jar me at first tend to grow with time.

It just sounds like a big cheesy 80s synth pop track compared to how artful and subtle everything else is. It's not bad just my least favorite.

What's to say about this classic that hasn't already been mentioned ? An amazing transitional experience between IML and SOE. Amazing, natural soundscapes and ......not a synthesizer within earshot !! LOL
