Good review, man, especially for a first!
Although I was skeptically sad when Jason Richardson left Born of Osiris, I'm actually digging what I'm hearing off this album so far. A pleasant surprise.

How is this any good?

Definitely a huge step up from previous releases. Jason Richardson is really limiting himself with this band though. He is capable of so much more, just listen to behold by Born of Osiris.

Never rated these guys tbh. Even the stuff that was held as great by fans of the band was average at best to me. Just something about this record.

The stuff held as great to fans was probably Desolation of Eden and all it had was breakdowns and sweeps. I mean, I sorta like it for nostalgia and the fact that Elysium is an awesome song but their old stuff is the kind of tunes that gives deathcore such a bad reputation.
