@foxxxy , AOTY? Idk man, I didn't feel it that much, never was a fan of Trophy Scars due to their vocals, they just ruin the good things the band has for me, they sound way too forced, especially on their new record. And the thing is pretty much overproduced as well, although there are some great songs. But I wouldn't say AOTY, I feel a 2.5 to a 3 on it... And I mean, new Swans, new Death Grips, new Sun Kil Moon, new Dead Congregation, new Clipping, new Gazpacho, new Thantifaxath, god damn.

Why can nobody appreciate both death grips and clipping. jesus

I was thinking:
GP had like 3 great songs (intro song, ann bonny, whatever I want), 2 good songs (2 heavens, birds) and the rest is just meh... I feel like DG are having this impulse that's common with musicians in this soundcloud-bandcamp era and that is when they promote their work and they want to release every little thing they make, whether it deserves an actuall release, even if it's just not that good, or it's not even a proper "song" and is more like an idea for one. The same thing I think happens with NOTM. The first 4 songs are killer ("Billy not really" being my favorite). Cool samples, great rythmic dynamics (unheard of in past releases), compelling lyrics and voice work. It has everything. But then it begins with "have a sad cum" and it becomes more explicit in the last 3 songs where it just feels like they were toying around, thought it sounded cool, added it to the buch of proper songs they had, took a picture of MC ride walking as a cover, called it an album (not even an album for itself, but 1/2 an album) and released it in the internet.
Whether they mean it or not, I do think DG are a way of making, listening and producing music that represents modern culture. Faster, bigger, deeper, stronger, operating at full capacity...
"Can you take it?"
That's the question Death Grips constantly shoves down your earholes.
