the new version sounds so off to me, honestly ahren on the redux just sounded like he didn't wanna be there and now knowing the aftermath makes it feel even more clear, he's really been struggling

Yea the Redux is a lot better, everything is a lot beefier and both Joel and Ahren sound amazing

agreed on all fronts, i jammed it like 6 times yesterday lol. the lower tunings really nicely emphasize the tension in these songs and they feel both a lot heavier and more somber as a result. shits awesome

I wonder what exactly went down behind the scenes. On paper, didn’t Joel go through the same thing?

Also Ahrens writing/written a joel diss track and Ahrens solo stuff is meant to be poppy.
@spec i think the difference is Joel got help and changed. Ahrens just been spiralling within his addiction and spiralling over the years. Also i think there was tension as well within the band of the direction of their sound one wanting to go heavy/ier and one wanting to go more pop oriented like their contempoaries.
They both have rubbed me the wrong way ever since i got into the band and Ive always though they both give off twat vibes.
