i cant remember much about it to be honest. it was very clean studio quality and it didnt have much/any screaming in it. im going to root through my backup hard drive to see if i can find my old jew rarity collection. i had literally everything that had ever been recorded of them including probably a few bsides that arent easy to find anymore.

Around 2004 on the Jimmy Eat World message boards we would share around rare stuff all the time. But it was before YouTube became good so none of it is on there. A few people were quite close to the band (who also chatted on the message boards) so they sometimes got inside stuff from sessions. The Trombino Sessions from pre-Futures (which you may have heard since I think they ended up on YouTube by now) were a big enigma that people thought were just a rumour for years. Then one day a user admitted to owning them and it was quite a big deal when they were finally shared. If you haven't heard the Trombino sessions, they were like a first attempt at making Futures (which originally included Over, Closer and Disintegration among other songs) before they fell out with Trombino (the producer at the time) and rewrote and rerecorded the entire album later with Gil Norton, which eventually became the futures that was released. I've been through a lot of computers since then so I've lost it all. I thought it might be on my backup drive that I've had since then but none of it is there so I must have deleted it at some point.

fuck this is truly fascinating shit honestly. never even knew those futures demos. futures would prob be even more perfect if they included those 3 songs.

Disintegration used to be called "Coming Home", Closer used to be called "Lying Dressed", and Over was an untitled song originally sung by Tom in 1998 (pre-Clarity). All these songs had different lyrics originally. I'm going to see if I can find them. There's a bunch of other outtakes and b-sides from the Futures-era particularly.

I'm running out of things that are actually on youtube though so if anyone knows of an archive of all of jimmy's rare stuff (there used to be one online maintained by Burkey from the mesage boards but I dont think its there anymore) then I'd love to find it.
