Definite potential. Just need to improve their songwriting to not rely so much on theme & gimmick.

I had a read of an interview today where Momsen said they didn't set out to make a concept record, but it just came naturally because she was watching 'The Shining' & reading 'Lolita'. Sounds about right.

This is so very catchy. I agree that there's a ton of things that could do with some improvement, but I enjoy this regardless.

It's unanimous amongst staff that this is a 3.2. Good minds think alike Magnus.

The flaws in this album almost make it feel like a debut. The fact that there debut exists & is superior doesn't lessen the enjoyment, but is difficult to ignore from a critical standpoint.

But she's hot. And there are guitars. That's enough for me.

...also, she's got a good voice and the music is actually pretty raw and bluesy. Overall, it's definitely palateable.

She's like Katy Perry with guitars.

She's like Katy Perry with guitars and different view of life.

I think her schtick is really just thin and pathetic. She's attractive in a weird racoon with STDs sort of way and her voice is indeed pretty good but the tunes themselves are just zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I've got a thing for girls with eyeliner. STDs are optional. Tunes are a bit hit or miss, but she does capture that drugged out jaded essence of rock n roll pretty well.

Magnus, the day one of the albums I reviews ends up in the Best New Music section is the day that section will have its plug pulled.

Agree with you SitarHero, but also agree with XingKing that the tunes (in this album) just aren't there for the most part.

Is the album art insinuating that her genital region is figuratively hell?

Idk man, there's always ...In Shallow Seas Post-Hardcore's Finest Sails or whatever it's called. More seriously Parades was well worthy of the tag.
