Now I'm curious. I'll doubt I'll ever see it in theaters so looks like I'm just going to have to wait for the next eight months for it to be available on the DVR

Robocop?
|
| |
Well, I got mixed feelings about RoboCop. The first time I watched the trailer I was like "Yeah, this is going to flop" but after a while I was like "ehh, maybe it's going to be like the Total Recall remake."

I loved Frozen (and I don't think it was anywhere near as cliche as some people in here are arguing -- it had some pretty hard subversions of romantic tropes Disney's been leaning on for decades) but the songs here don't stand on their own, sad to say. Good review.
That said, I object to the idea some people have thrown about here that commercial appeal is inherently a bad thing. Because I can't say it any better, I'll defer to Elizabeth Sanders on this: "If you are interested only in musical artists who carved their own guitars out of a tree they felled in the dead of night and then sat on street corners for decades using their fingernails to carve original and poetic lyrics into the sidewalk for loose change, until they were offered a record deal by an archangel disguised as a label exec, who immediately gave them complete artistic freedom based solely on the majestic scruff of their beard, then you are not really interested in musical artists; you are interested in bespoke leather boots. I’m sure they will look very good on you."

Thanks Moses! I definitely agree with your thoughts on commercial appeal, though - I unabashedly love pop music (and some Broadway-esque stuff, believe it or not) and there's definitely good stuff out there. Great quote too

Damn, surprised at all its praise

I'm not, a lot of things Disney usually gets a shit ton of praise.
