I think I might drop this to a 2 because of what was created before it. Just noticed this comment and it's bang on as to why this sucks so hard:
this is one of my favorite bands of all time, but what is up with the increasingly more and more brittle sounding production? part of their appeal to me was some of the dark atmospheres created. I can't even listen to this on headphones much, would rather hear some of their aughts material.

Finally got around to listening to this
Good album, it's definitely immolation but they're on cruise control. Immolation on cruise control is still better than lots of shit today.
The production is predictably over polished
