ok opinion change this is boring as hell
|

I heard half of this, and it sizzled out really quickly. I'd review it, but I don't think I could make myself listen to this any more.

the thing is, they have a cool sound, its just extremely tedious when its the ONLY sound they use
|
| |
I honestly wish they grooved harder here, because those are the only moments here I care about. The rest is too monotonous, like you said

Well, the fact that you don't have this ranked as a 5 would suggest that you do not think it a
masterpiece either.
You are correct, but I fail to see why someone who thinks this is a masterpiece must have an
irrelevant opinion.
I honestly wish they grooved harder here
This would be a masterpiece(IMO) if the full on djent sections grooved as hard as Meshuggah. Instead
the usually end up sounding rather... jarring.

Why is boring a bad thing? That's a serious question.
This album simply lives in every moment rather than special highlights like a ultrA Br00tal breakdown.
It's similar Jimmy Eat World's Goodbye Sky Harbor or X-Japan's 10 minute piano solo in Art of Life,
though those are extreme examples, but they seem to fit for me.
"if it isn't penetration then it isn't worth the kiss"

because listening to the same ideas over and over for 50 minutes doesnt do anything to capture my attention. the reason their quiet parts were cool before is because they contrasted well with their heavy riffs. this is basically just awkward grooves over ambience and high pitched vocals for the entire duration

Really?

To be fair, you could wither down most band's sound in a similar way.

im assuming he meant repetition, but the two often go hand in hand

album is really cool.

Really digging the ethereal groove, but Ill also agree with most it does become strenuously monotone. This is def there best release though in terms of production and I like the ambient stuff a lot.
@Lebo if you liked the first record this will put you to sleep.
@Zuzek Great review, and thanks for the Ever Forthright. Always wondered what happened to Chris Baretto, shits pretty sick.
@Kill that Icarus vid was fucking halarious.

Wow these ratings are all over the place...
Album ownz hard. Eclipse has an amazing atmosphere and groove to it. Don't really see how people can give this an average rating yet give generic metalcore 3's and 4's.
Gotta give them props for actually stripping away their more "heavier" stuff. Hopefully their 3rd album will come along quickly now that they have a singer in place. And hopefully it will be even more jazzy.
4.5'd for sax.
