I need to give this album a proper chance, was too harsh after only hearing it once.

Their 1983-1987 is as solid as it gets.

Nah I've heard up to Mystification. I definitely need to listen to the remaining albums. Have they released any good live albums?

Album is great but it's not a classic in my opinion. Some great moments for sure like dreams of eschaton, the title track, flaming metal system or necropolis but the middle section is boring. Open The Gates is their magnum opus imho..
