One day in 4th grade I was walking with some classmates through a small orchard. These classmates started picking rotten apples up off the ground and eating them. I thought, 'What the hell are they doing?' and watched in terror as they continued to ingest these mushy, brown worm-ridden globs. Then I realized, if everyone is doing it it must not be as bad as it appears. So I took a bite of one of these apples. It was abhorrent. Disgusting. I never spoke to these classmates again. My mind was blown; no logical reason existed as to why all these people were liking something so terrible. Perhaps, I thought, maybe they were just doing it to be different from the rest of the 4th graders.
Job for a cowboy is like a rotten apple.

This band was descovered through myspace. idk if you guys know that.
great band.

I'm sorry but Job For A Cowboy are the worst band I have ever head in my life. My boyfriend likes them and they're the only band I refuse to let him play out of all his 'deathcore' or whatever you want to call it.

Why isn't Entities on the track listing?

Yes, I love Job For a Cowboy, but this is not death metal. No JFAC do not sound like Suffocation, Nile, or if you want to go into the more brutal death metal, Guttural Secrete and so on. JFAC are deathcore, plain and simple.

generic-ass band, but they did the "deathcore" thing so well that you gotta love this album. genesis however, is even more generic.
|
| |
Not deathcore, but yeah great album. I don't think it was very generic when it came out, just because of how different their songwriting approach was to most death metal bands at the time.

Their new shit is death metal, but why are you only talking about Suffocation and Nile as DM? There's many different styles of death metal, so saying it's not because it doesn't sound like them doesn't mean they aren't DM.

These guys are insane! Entombment of a Machine is cool though. The rest seems a tab bit boring. Maybe it's one of those albums that has to grow on me more.

It actually sucks pretty hard

It was pretty good when I first heard it, but it gets dull quickly.

It's all glorified simple tremolo riffs and palm muted breakdowns. Kickass vocals though, I listen to Entombment of a Machine in the car sometimes.

Vocals suck, though.

The vocals are the only thing going for Job for a Cowboy. The music isn't brutal, technical or melodic, they've just been chosen by 'the scene' as one of the crossover death metal bands that metalcore kids listen too. That's the only reason they are popular.

They're really friendly and accessible, at least this release is, like the other scene "death" metal. I mean, I'm not going to deny that it's death metal from a musical standpoint, because it is, but it's oversimplified and lacks any real extremity. Aesthetically speaking, it's metalcore.

Pretty simplistic at heart but it's a fun disc. Two truly awesome tracks with the others being just good. Entombment of a Machine and Knee Deep are seriously sick.

This album was pretty good, I enjoyed it. Genesis I found they tried to hard to be more instrumental and it really lacked this album was in your face and it was grand.
