This album is so dull and forgettable. There are like two decent riffs. This is suppose to be the groove album.
First problem - Phil Anselmo. The guy sucks so bad. Just sounds like another generic metal singer. Also I should mention he's a total douche. Who can take this guy serious when he sings?
Second problem - Darrel Abbott. First off who gives them self the nickname Diamond or Dimebag Darrel? A major tool that's who. As I said there are only a few good riffs. His lead playing also sucks. His solos are total wankery. The riffs are just chug chug, crunch, and power chords. Total groove man...
1.5 for Cemetery Gates.

Arise > CFH > Trendkill > Chaos AD > Vulgar Display > rest of Sepultura > rest of Pantera.

Not sure why that comparison was brought about, really. It's like choosing your favorite child, it can't be done and the comparison is irrelevant.

yes it can
sepultura have 4 amazing albums and lots of shit ones
pantera have produced nothing but shit
i wonder who wins

Well yeah, I guess they had different stories. Pantera was a former glam band turned groove, and Sepultura was a former thrash band gone mainstream.

I like Pantera more than Sepultura. I love early Sepultura, but it seems like they just got shittier and shittier

I like most of the Max-era Seputura, but of the Pantera albums I highly enjoy, Vulgar Display and onward, I prefer them as a whole. But Chaos AD is better than any Pantera, to me.

yesh early Sep is beyond reproach, but they slid hard.
Pantera however, barely set a step astray of legendary status
