Agreed on GYBE adopting the formula, but also succesfully adding their signatures. However, Swans pushed it even further on their post-reunion trilogy.

Godspeed and Swans have always felt neck-in-neck, you can extend that to No Title and now (probably) Birthing, they're pushing the limits of this sound to its absolute extreme.
