Yeah I'm gonna try. I don't want to sound like a pussy but I tried some of their earlier stuff the other day and there was a little too much Jesus bashing for me. I hear their newer albums are more about politics?
Not like i'm super religious but I don't feel the need to listen to a band who's all fuck jesus. If a band wants to express their beliefs that's one thing, but when they are specifically attacking a specific religion it bugs me : (

I don't mind anti religion like I said it's when they're attacking a specific group of people.
I'll just give all their stuff a chance though. I'd hate to miss out on some great death metal just because of my personal beliefs.

well yeah to each their own. I'm pretty laid back on most issues and don't let a whole lot bother me and religion is the same way. I don't practice it, I think it's definitely flawed, but I know some truly good people who are religious in one way or another. to use a nonsensical, overused phrase, it is what it is.
but yeah, Close to a World Below is top 3 dm imo.

Thanks man, it's appreciated. I love writing and listening to music, so I figured this would be the perfect place to start. I have not heard it yet; I'll go with Megadeth first haha. The only thing that is remotely close to thrash that I have heard (and this may be wayyyy off) is Skeletonwitch haha.

They're a fun band to listen to, definitely check them out. I will check out Rust in Peace tonight and let you know what I think of it. Older metal is something that I don't have any roots in, so I am definitely a newbie in that aspect.
