This album leaves me with a VERY strange feeling every time I'm hearing it. It's awesomeness is beyond doubting, yet every time I ended up being not satisfied.

Album rules but it doesn't quite match the awesomness of Deep Purple's best albums for me.

Deep Purple's music is more exciting and adventurous for me but Rainbow's is more epic. So it comes down to personal preferences. I also enjoy Deep Purple's best more than this one. In live performances Deep Purple though were easily better.

Oh yes, Rainbow could only dream of creating a live album as good as Made in Japan.

Even though Rainbow were great instrumentalists, no Jon Lord no party.

When in comparisson to Rainbow, Paice doesn't hold a candle to Cozy Powell.

Dunno, I always regarded Paice and Glover as DP's only weak links.
