So I finally got around to listening to this, and its amazing. Its better than Mer de Noms. The Package is my favorite song here along with The Outsider.

your review gave me shivers, honestly one of the best written reviews I have EVER seen on this site. Very well done. I love this album so much I think I'm going to need to listen to it today.

I hate to tell you this but "Pet" is also about drug addiction. The "father" that is speaking is the drug "talking" to the addict. Listen to it again with this in mind and it becomes an incredibly intelligent song, rather than a rather trite political one.

The other version of the track, from Emotive (Counting Bodies Like Sheep) IS related to politics but this wasn't done until quite a while after and the video features a cartoon version of a particularly inept US president.

You've also remarked that Weak and Powerless didn't do much for you. Fair enough but have you listened to the lyrics in that song?? Hands-down the best lyrics I've ever heard. The way he joins lines together is so intelligent and provide double meanings, for example...

Dig in search of China

White as Dracula as I approach the bottom

The way he joins China and White make you realise that he's talking about heroin, while the remainder of the 2nd line also makes sense in its own right. Incredible song!!

PS It'd be a bit more intelligent if posts and reviews appeared in REVERSE chronoligical order!!

Extremely strong album. Sometimes I wish Maynard would stay in the simpler realm of APC instead of Tool's indulgences. Also wish they didn't end on such a piece of shit album as Emotive is.

Maynard mentioned that he's working on another APC album in a rollingstone article (in addition the Tool album), fucking stoked.

Its funny because when I saw APC live, A Stranger and The nurse who loved me were absolutely breathtaking. Really only due to Maynard, but honestly its so good live.
