"what makes you think that"

Because he stole his name from "Freeway" Rick Ross. The "real" Rick Ross. This guy was an actual drug trafficker during the 80s who ended up getting done for trying to purchase 100 kilos of coke from a fed. Rick Ross (the fat, shit rapper) won't even acknowledge that he took his name from "Freeway" Ricky or that he writes his songs from the perspective of this guy. If you haven't yet, watch the video I posted with my other comment. The interviewer asks him how he got his name, to which he replies with some hard g nonsense.

He's a very poor and poser rapper but sixteen is a killer track, it has an enojyable old school vibe.

"yea most of the 300 pound prison guards that I'm familiar with are giant pussies"

I'm not implying that physically he's a pussy. Dude might be able to scrap, idk.

I took him a long time to finally admit the cor. officer background and he won't acknowledge that he borrowed his moniker from the real Ricky Ross

I think he's a pussy for putting up a front, acting like he wants to push drugs and bust guns when really he want's none of it. He wants to smoke, eat and make music.

every beef associate with him goes nowhere cuz he always backs off and calls it "battling" cuz he wants none of it, which is fine, but don't come out swinging like u want some and then back off

sure there might be plenty of other fakes in rap, but we're talking about Rick Ross here and I find him to be an average rapper at best w/ halfway decent beats

baldymort gets it

Andre 3000 started rapping under the name Dre because Dr. Dre but I bet you like Hey Ya just fine.

And I don't understand what's wrong with rapping from someone's perspective. Big Boi has been a mock pimp for years, Del invented Deltron 3030 and don't try to tell me MF Doom is actually Dr. Doom. Not to mention very few of Rick Ross' songs are actually about dealing drugs, it's more about thug life than anything.

It would matter to me either way. I admit he has a few catchy songs here and there. I'm only saying that if he wasn't a
poser then I might be more
inclined to enjoy his stuff. The few songs that I've kept of his are mostly ones where he's a guest artist.

Not sure 3 stacks started as Dré for the reason you say. Matter of fact he went to 3K to kill the comparison.

I'm cool with rappers rapping from other perspectives or personas as long as they present them as such. Pretty sure
Lucious Leftfoot was presented as just that, a persona.

Ross is not rapping as a persona for sake of perspective. He's rapping as a persona for sake of marketing. Which is all
good if ppl wanna buy into that. I'm not one of 'em is all i'm saying.

I'd argue its more out of ease than marketability. I have a hard time believing a fat dude yelling "Would you suck the dick of a millionaire" is commercially viable. Fact is, he's charismatic and seems comfortable with the his persona. I respect where you're coming from, but I'm not *entirely* sure I agree with your views.

haha yeah i found it quite ironic that he would use Scarface, one of the most respected rappers in the game, to make his
point

Guys, remember that Jesse Lacey died in a car accident. How else was he able to write that song?

Same old, same old. I feel like he's getting better as time goes, but once again this is just too long of an album for someone like him since all his songs are more or less the same.
