Guy has such a hypnotising voice, even if it isn't that great.

Stereogum just posted about the 10 year anno for this...was one of the first artier records I discovered as I was getting into indie rock and still have a lot of affection for it

This was a big one for me during the summer of 2012. I had just started seeing my wife (we weren't "together", but it was still a very fun time) and I used to make a 90 minute drive after work every other Friday to see her. This album joined Swans' The Seer, Tigers on Trains' Foundry, Yellowcard's Southern Air, The Antlers' Undersea EP, and Regina Spektor’s What We Saw From the Cheap Seats in a heavy rotation in my car's CD player. This was the perfect blend of super weird and traditionally catchy indie rock for me at the time. Offspring Was Blank is still one of my favorites. Also, it's super crazy to me that it's been 10 years.

On the other hand I have a memory of playing this album in the car driving to the mall with my mom after I got my learner's permit and her telling me it was weird lol

Haha, I have those memories too but for me it was The Killers' Hot Fuss on my way to rent a tux for junior prom. My mom, a hardcore Christian, asked if we could turn it off and put on something that glorified God instead.

bumping this to a 4. “Unto Caesar” bothered me for a long time but today I decide it is a good track
