"i liked this when i was younger approx the same period i liked linkin park but i dont remember the

You must have aged quickly then because both "this" and Linkin Park's new album leaked a week ago.
Gotta beef up that cerebral cortex bro.

Well written review. Agree with your first comment below the review, though. Overly harsh on the band and their previous work. Also not sure where the comparisons to Meshuggah and Hacride come in either. They all play metal and one of them is French?

There a couple really annoying things about this album that take me out of the experience.
1) The end of "Wild Healer" doesn't directly interject into the beginning of "Planned Obsolescence".
The gap between songs is quite jarring.
2) The outro to "Planned Obsolescence" seems totally out of place. It doesn't blend with what
preceded it. On to of that, there are off time drum patterns going on(that i'm sure were
intentional) that seem amateur.

"you are thinking WAAAAYYYY too hard. the only flaw here is that its Gojira which means its nothing
more than good genericore. also i can tell you arent a drummer."
What are you talking about? Genericore? You arn't serious... Think WAAAYYYY harder.
Let me preface criticism #2 by saying I think Mario Duplantier is one of the best drummers alive,
but The drum work at the end of that song just doesn't make sense. Listen to it again. It's not off in
a odd time signature kind of way(good) but off in a "I'm hitting random things at random tempos" kind
of way(bad).

Guess we can safely ignore your opinion.

^ aha, but you gotta admit he's definitely underrated
|
| |
Not really. His drumming style is a mix between tech death drumming and the syncopated madness Tomas Haake perfected. Something like every single tech death drummer in the past 10 years can compete with Mario.
That's not to say he isn't competent. He certainly is. But his drumming isn't anything out of the ordinairy and it never has been.

I guess you have never been on a Gojira concert, Mario destroys live
|

I've been to 3, actually. Ã…rhus 2006, Copenhagen 2010 and last friday in Copenhagen....
|
| |
"one of the best drummers alive" is going a bit far, but I def dig his style - especially compared to many tech death drummers.
dude's got groove

kind of digging this trying not to think of it as just another metal album is difficult however.

"i am completely serious, false m/"
This thread has already reached its limit of pretentious elitists. Sir, please troll elsewhere.

I see no problem in calling Mario one of my favorite/best drummers. People look for different things
in musicians, and he hits all the right buttons.
@Donni
Mario is the best thing about the band. I disagree that he is ordinary, he is anything but.

The number one quality I look for in drummers/night walkers
