I disagree with most of that, but I concur, the production is fucking useless. Arif is one of the most talented bassist's I've heard and the bass is mostly inaudible for most of the CD. It's not really that technical though, the riffs for the most are easy to play, and to me that makes a good songwriter. Whatever.

Silverstein sucks, both live and on cd, so it isnt saying much. Still, I've seen them 28 times, 29 come this friday, and there's no sign of me letting up. In fact I've already got a ticket for my 30th show.

seeing a band 30 times is not being a fan, it's called stalking. im jk. no, but they are realy worth every dollar to go and see them.

silverstein are loosing their edge and seem to be leaning toward a younger audience (im 19 and my 14 year old brother bought 'Discovering the Waterfront') with catchier tunes, but hey if their bringing in the dough now, who are we to say they suck? they may not be talentened at what they do but silverstein, hawthorne (who blow even more loads) and other pop-punk bands know how to market an audience.

cheers

ok...I'm sorry but I seriously think that the only person you should discussing this with is a psychiatrist. That is just not healthy.

At moments these guys have something.

Unfortunately these moments are far and few between.

Hooray for technicality, but there are more technical bands.

Hooray for political lyrics, but there are better bands who do it.

Hooray for clean and screamed vocals, but again there are better bands.

Must be an awkward position to be in but BTBAM, Red Chord, Glass Casket and DEP destroy this band.

That middle section of no stars over bethlehem reeks of 43% burnt.

When you consider the circumstances it really isn't.

When I started to see them around 3 years ago, they played almost weekly, never for more than 5$. I've seen them a lot over the last three years but most of their shows I've seen were in a blitz around 2 years back.

What? That's like me saying "I started smoking crack around 3 years ago, it was available almost weekly, never for more than 5 dollars."

But whatever, that's just me.This Message Edited On 03.28.06

I think this album is great. Much better than all the crap thats been coming out and been getting huge coverage (Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein etc.) all with mostly standardized lyrics and a set of chords that get 14 year old emo kids to bang their heads and dream of banging their lead singers because of their haircuts.

I dont see anything pretentious in the lyrics at all, and you cant really judge them without knowing them in person. They try and get a message across other than Ive been dumped by my girlfriend, bush is a ****sucker or Worship satan. Womens rights and societal values are one issue I've never seen incorporated into songs period so thumbs up there.

I personally like the technicality. Some bands can pull off playing simple chord patterns and still get a good groove/feel going (Maylene and the Sons of Disaster) but most are just boring and repetitive. I do like BTBAM though.(theyre from my hometown too) but from the few songs of theirs I've heard I just dont think its AS good. Opinions though.

PTH is also the only reason Imgoing to warped tour this year (other than the Fall of Troy and Riverboat Gamblers) Cant wait to see em live =P

I read this a while ago, it was a great review. So I was at Bamboozle (for those who dont know its a 2 day concert played in NJ featuring a ton of punk/emo/rock bands) and I saw this album for sale for $5 at a vendor stand. It was by far the best 5 bucks ive ever spent, this album is absolutely mind-blowing

I'd like to know why this was moved to 'Punk'. Yes, their early EP was a punk release, but this is metal, and thus that is where I initially classified it when I posted the review, not to mention their future will releases will undoubtebly be more metal-inclined.

The bass isn't inaudible. You just have to know how to listen for bass. The best bass fill in the whole album occurs at 31 seconds into blindfolds aside. I love fills that just explode of the track like that.

Does it matter what genre it's under? Anyone who truly cares what genre a band is should be shot. This Message Edited On 05.20.06

This is one of the best albums in recent memory. I havent loved a progressive album this much since Frances the Mute came out

The only reason people might consider this punk is because of Rody, his voice is totally punk. Musically, theyre metalcore, and they share similarities between punk and metal. And I agree with the above ^^ the bass is very audible

They're not Metalcore.

Don't tell me how to listen for basslines, I'm not an idiot. I know the bassist and I know the basslines from seeing them live so many times; they're not very audible, considering they're the most musically impressive aspect of the music.

Rody's voice is not punk, at all. There's no real such thing as a punk vocal style, and if there was, it wouldnt be as such. His voice is more towards the progressive side; listen to Yes, Into Eternity (one of their main influences), DT, etc.

The genre is important when so poorly classified. People want to find genre specific music on here and it's irrelevant with it's in the wrong section. Their EP was punk, their full length and future releases will not be, and thus, this is in the wrong section. I classified this as Metal, I put the first PTH review here, and they should stay where I put them. This Message Edited On 05.21.06
