Checking this again. Been a long time since I last jammed this (probably for a reason).
The cheese and the wank are both spread thick on this burger.

I always saw Kiko as more tasteful than your average wanky guitarist
|
| |
Definitely an immensely talented guitar player. So far the cheese is way worse of a problem for me here than the wank is. This reminds me of fucking Disneyland at times lmao
|
| |
The guitar leads on this are god
|
| |
I'm feeling a 3 on this at the moment
|
| |
If cheese is a problem, you probably wont like anything by these guys except fireworks
|
| |
I probably should just leave this kind of bands in peace lol
Then again, I absolutely love the 90's output by Blind Guardian and Virgin Steele, that's why I think of giving bands like this a try (mostly to unsatisfactory results)
|
| |
Interesting. Blind guardian never grew on me. I'll have to check out Virgin Steele though. Bunch of people rave about them.
|
| |
The early Virgin Steele albums contain songs that range from epic metal to USPM to hair metal to cock rock lol. There's a few outright terrible songs on there, but also some completely superb ("The Burning of Rome" for instance).
From the "Marriage" series on the music is more in the USPM vein with progressive and epic tendencies and a slightly dark edge. DeFeis' vocals during those days were absolutely incredible.
Most of their 2000's output is back to the more mediocre side of things again.

Album Rating: 5.0
I don't understand why everyone is talking about the lack of the bass in the mix. Compared to metal standards, the bass is quite audible in the mix of this album. Metal in general is not good for the bass guitar, as it typically holds the hand of the guitar. It doesn't follow it's own stride, only on rare occasions. I know this as a fan of metal and a bass guitarist of over 10 years. Try listening to jazz and tell me that I'm wrong.

Yea, the bass is there, just not in the front. felipe is a great bassist too.

|
| |
not my favorite from angra but the leads are godly
