@bnelso: I agree with that. At the end of the day, my opinion of this album is positive, which is exactly because of the four songs you mentinoned. The other ones drag it down a bit and make it one of her worse albums for me, but it's still a pleasant listen overall

Yeah. I'd say we're on the same page. Admittedly, I don't listen to this one from front to back very often.

The first three songs and Among Angels are stunning. They remind me of Talk Talk and A Moon Shaped Pool. Wild Man and Wheeler Street are great. The t/t is a bit much but still good. A lot of this is just a bit long-winded, especially the opener and Wheeler Street, but I love a lot of it.

I quite enjoy Wild Man, and don't really mind Wheeler Street, either.

Real talk:

Lake Tahoe > Snowflake > Misty > Among Angels > 50 Words for Snow > Snowed in at Wheeler Street = Wild Man

And those two are still brilliant

This is great, but I'm not sure I'm in love with it upon first listen

It's no Hounds, Dreaming, or Aerial

Why is this song about fucking a snowman so effectively emotionally impacting

And the song about her dead dog finding her in heaven is even more depressing

Goddammit this album has some really beautiful and sentimental allegories....

Very calming, gets you in this nice melancholy vibe. Love how her voice sounds here too.
