The lyrics aren't deep or profound, but I just believe the singer when he sings them. With most music like this, I just can't. The music-vocals combo just sets up the sincerity here perfectly.

Oh yeah, it's half as much in the delivery, than the lyrics themselves.

Love the summary, seriously. It's what caught my attention.
Will check this out.

Need to listen to it a few more times but so far so good.

I can't get the chorus of the first song out of my head.

Thanks Spec. Thought that lyric was especially fitting. Just in case you - and others - were not aware, it is a lyric from the album, so I can't take full credit.
That's always a great sign Sanders. Some criticized the decision to release that song as a single, but I think it was a pretty obvious choice.

Checking these out at the moment, certainly liking Work In Progress at the moment, however the end deffinatley drags out and lost my interest.
War Paint is, simply put, awesome. Enough said on that track.

Just on that, this is one of those albums where if you play around with the tracklist (EG: Just simply reverse the order), you will like the closing tracks more than you initially did. It's not great for that aforementioned storyline arc, but it does make you see some songs in a different light. Probably a sign that there is a little more diversity needed.

Finally got my pre-order. I really did not expect this, but I'm super dissapointed. The whole album seems so bland, and yeah, I like the lyrics for the most part but they were delivered so much better on Reach For The Sun. Only songs I really enjoy a lot are War Paint and In My Room.

I guess I'm also enjoying "Everyone Left".

I'm predicting a rating increase in approximately 7 days time.

Holy fuck. I don't know what just happened. I've been sitting in my room in the pitch black darkness since I wrote that
comment, listening to this album. It has suddenly grown on me like crazy in what....3 hours? I came here to write this
before I saw your comment (obviously), slightly strange. So yeah, not sure what just happened, but I now enjoy this quite
a bit. Very strange...
My rating was 2.5 before this.

Hahahaha. Sometimes, I just have this power to infiltrate the mind of Sputnik users. I must say I didn't predict such a quick increase though.
It was to do with 2 things actually... The album itself & the fact you pre-ordered it, so I knew you were gonna put the time into it.

Good album, but the hype almost kills it.

Daveyboy, I'm quite tempted to try out this reversing-album-order idea that you have ;D I tend to kind of lose interest in longer albums after awhile if the songs run together, so it would be a good solution.

What hype?

I sort of know what japandroid means, but "hype" is not the correct word. It's more that people who love albums like this get so immersed in them that there isn't too much middle ground... It's also quite tricky to put into words why they love them.
Alistair, it's worth a shot & I do it almost always. This isn't the best album to do it with though, as there is a concept running through it. But if it's just a straight-forward LP & you come away thinking that the 2nd last, 3rd last & 4th last tracks are the weakest, try it out.

Waves is definitely the best song imo now. I still prefer Reach For the Sun though. A couple songs on this album seem lacking for me.
