Decapitated's evolution was struck with tragedy with the loss of Vitek and the injury of Covan. This album is a step backwards but not a bad album.

@ShadowRemains

Numerous times I've seen people criticize The Faceless for being nothing more than a Spawn of Possession ripoff. And not just on this site. That's where that came from.

I think it's kinda unfair "blaming" Kerim "Krimh" Lechner for not being as good as Vitek. He's one of the most dedicated drummers atm, playing for hours a day and really puts all his heart into drumming. He lives Metal and he breathes music. He's also quite young and though he had some experience with other bands before this is his first major record and he knows it's almost impossible to step into Viteks footsteps. But don't blame him for having his own Style. He's one of the most talented young drummers out there! I know some of his closest friends and ex-bandmembers and they told me how hard he is working and playing and how passionate he feels about it.
Lechner is one of the most passionate musicians to date (just listen to his stuff on youtube - http://www.youtube.com/user/KrimhKerim) and I think you should give him a chance.

I don't have ANY doubt that all the things you write are true. BUT, when someone is "judging" a record, he is obliged to describe things as objectively as possible.

Krimh's drumming is tremendously passionate, yes, but the patterns used are being repeated again again (especially in the double kick drums). As a consequence, by the time the second half of the record is reached, his drumming doesn't add much to the songs.

Krimh has large shoes to fill, and in order to fill them successfully in the future, people have to drive him through that direction, by stating primarily the drawbacks, except for the good elements. I don't know anyone who got better, based only on his good points.

I wrote in a previous post that time wasn't on the band's side on this album for the obvious reasons. That is, the band didn't have enough time to diversify the songs more, so in the epilogue i write that from now on time is on their side, so the next album is going to be much much better.

I tend to believe that my criticism in the review was constructive in every possible respect.

The vocals... *puke*

Semi nu metal, super obnoxious vocals and really good music. What a miss.
