Metal has been consistently great this year. Its just been lacking in outstanding releases, this is one of them imo.

2011 has not been a poor year at all, you just haven't heard the right metal albums

There's nothing to doubt, its pretty much fact. Desloate Shrine, Azarath, Durazis and a lot of other bands have put out excellent albums this year, you're just relying too much on sputnik for metal releases when the site only ever catches on a few excellent releases.

That Desolate Shrine album was pretty good (like a 3.5, maybe) but I didn't like that Azarath album at all... Haven't heard that Durazis album yet so thanks for that.
Oh and by the way I get my metal from a few other metal-oriented sites :]
I wouldn't have reviewed the new Aosoth or the new Cruachan if I hadn't seen them on another site...
