Can we just agree that this is the more moronic review this website has ever posted, even more than the one that gave a 5/5 for that turd called as "New Again" and move on?
This is the best record this band has ever done since TAYF. The dude who wrote this is clearly the most biased reviewer I have ever read in my entire life. Please don't tell me that people are payed to vomit reviews like this.

if only i were paid! and hey i like taking back sunday but this album's pretty bad =(
and yeah, munro, i listened to it the day it leaked, thought it was shit, and started writing.
Subsequent listens happened during the reviewing process, and it was still shit. I do this pretty
often idk. I do think that this is a review where I didn't need to post a rating; I feel like any
rating between 1 and 2.5 is pretty arbitrary.

I agree with the people that commented that you wrote by the numbers. I can be a fan of this band,
but I'm unbiased enough to speak my mind when they do something as shitty as New Again. While you,
channeled the best you could from the typical 'BRAND NEW ROCKS / TBS SUCKS' fanboy rant to write
this pile of shit.
I give mad props to this website for introducing me amazing bands, but this review is just not
right. You confess that you wrote this after it leaked and you are a "Staff Reviewer", really? I
mean, couldn't you at least experience the record in better quality to judge this? This is the best
comeback record I've heard from a line up ever, and I can't stress enough how biased and trying too
hard this review is. The Sputnik's New Again review was a bad joke. This one is just downright
childish.

While I highly disagree with the review, it definitely doesn't even mention Brand New once. It's not a bad review; maybe it tries a little too hard, and I disagree with almost every point, but it's certainly well-written and gets its point across.

I'll tell you man, even writers for professional websites write reviews after only a listen or two.
Also, I told you, I really like a lot of Taking Back Sunday. If this wasn't awful, the review would be positive. I even say that in the review itself.

It does mention "Soco Amaretto Lime", what evokes to me that the reviewer thinks that while Brand New have matured, Taking Back Sunday didn't. This is an old argument between Brand New and TBS fanbase, and that what I got most from the review. A Brand New fanboy rant, regardless how well written it is.
As for TBS maturing, I think this is a way more mature record than say Brand New's Daisy, no matter how I love Brand New's entire discography. All on this album screams BIG to me, it's not perfect by any means, but it's very far from a "very poor"/ "average" record either.

wait so from the one non-comparitive mention of soco amaretto lime you got that my entire point was
brand new rules and tbs sucks? man you read what you want to read, i guess.

I guess I just expected more from here, that's all. After the New Again 5/5 fiasco, they come back with something worthy of an amazing review and all I got from here was a fanboy rant.

You know how Jesse Lacey always seemed like he was about to lose it on previous Brand New albums? Well, now he's lost it. Daisy, the latest (and final?) studio album from the band neatly packages everything the band does well in a wonderfully new and different aesthetic. The sheen of Deja Entendu and The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me is replaced with messiness and danger. Daisy finds the group expanding into genres unfamiliar to them and potentially offputting to their fans (The first song is skramz influenced for fuck's sake), but Brand New remains artistically intact. The power and impressive ability to turn a simple song into an emotional ride is still there. The first wave of connections links Daisy to In Utero, and while stylistically the albums are generally different, the aura around each record feels similar. Daisy is purposefully alienating- dissonant when it could be harmonic, abrasive where it could be smooth, yet those looking for the emotional resonance that Jesse Lacey can deliver with an unhinged shout of a startingly immediate hook will not be disappointed. "Vices," "At the Bottom," "You Stole," "Sink," all feature some of Jesse's best vocal performances. rIn short, Brand New are still so c-c-c-controversial, but that's precisely why Daisy is the album you need to be listening to right now.

Now, THIS is an above average record. A record that tries too hard and a reviewer that follows suit. I guess opinions are opinions, after all.

"It does mention "Soco Amaretto Lime"
Oops my bad, it does. I still don't think it's a 'fanboy rant' though. I think Downer just didn't like the album.
I would also argue that this is a more mature album than Daisy, but that's neither here nor there since I don't believe he was comparing them in the first place. At least not in the way you seem to think.

I'm getting it from taking in context your previous reviews and likings in music. I'm calling it the way I see it, you're partial for Brand New records and biased as hell for a Taking Back Sunday one.
If Taking Back Sunday isn't your thing anymore, maybe you shouldn't write this review at all. After praising New Again so much, Sputnik had a chance to give credit for this band when they really deserved. You owed the readers of this website after writing a misleading review like that one, I don't care if it wasn't the same person who wrote them.
All we got was another hyperbolic and misleading review, but the other way around instead.
