This is some of the best stuff I've ever heard in any of the metal genres. To be honest, I hate any kind of technical metal for the most part. I find it horribly boring. But this blew me away. I've never heard anything like this before from any metal band.

They have basically reinvented their genre.

'They have basically reinvented their genre' should be the new summary.

album art stood out on the front page.

Its identical to Dead Letter Circus' album art. Most random two bands to use the same artist for their album cover. American tech death and Aussie alternative rock.

Born of Osiris is pretty amazing, and this is definitely their best yet.
Still not entirely sure if deathcore is the word I'd use to describe them; they have some very philosohical lines, and the intensity of their stuff is balanced out pretty well.

Haha, no need to worry. I think A Higher Place is miles ahead of this, as are many other Sumerian albums. The 4.5 is just for aesthetic purposes.

I kinda figured. When I first heard the samples back a few months ago it seemed there would be a heavier electronic feel in the vein of making it a staple of the sound the guitars playing to or around it not a random back drop.

Album is a bit on the long side, which is really the only thing that bothers me about it. These guys were perfect at making short songs.

Good review and great album. I am really really surprised how good it is actually. I just saw them live opening for Darkest Hour and they were super tight, heavy, and sounded great, so I figured I would give them one last try with this latest release. Although I thought the previous two efforts were solid, there was nothing that really stood out from other "mathcore" type metal. However, this album goes well beyond what I expected/hoped. Your review rightfully points out how skillfully the band blends in unique atmospherics and other effects with razor sharp riffs and pummeling bass lines. Will be listening to this for awhile.
