gotta say i love pth but this is just way too much rody...i know it's about not taking shit too seriously blah blah but the lyrics are so childish/immature...i'd take the overtly political calculated use of sound over this any day..."tragedy will never disaffect her, i hope she knows how much i respect her"..."And what a fucking waste of a day, we just lay around and waste away"..."all the editors are hard and all the journalists wet, all the boys are jerking off in private on the internet"?

Ehh... I've always thought these guys were pretty bad, so I guess it makes sense this wouldn't change it.

Arif wrote Sex-Tapes, not Rody.

well that's awful, but id say rody's vocal melodies are the biggest problem, his cleans are good but they were much better when they weren't everything he did...the music is still balling, but it's so hard to get into the album...this isn't a eulogy or a requiem, just some words i sketched down because i haven't said them

This album force-feeds the same trite wankery that all "younger metalheads" seem to crave. Their older stuff, I get, but this... I do not understand the acclaim this shit has received. "Kezia" was a major step forward for the band, at least in terms of ambitious song writing and sheer frenetic intensity. "Fortress" was another deviation from their sound, but it had promise (and more importantly, RIFFS!). This album is just a whole of the same.
Sweep-->chug-->arpeggio-->alternate pattern and repeat!

i mean i hate this band now too but
5 classic
Avenged Sevenfold Waking the Fallen
Avenged Sevenfold's sophomore release is a classic with ease. Amazing musicianship, chilling vocals, superb drumming, haunting lyrics, one of the few metalcore albums out there that incorporates more METAL rather than CORE.
Between the Buried and Me The Silent Circus
Between the Buried and Me Alaska

RE: Where'd Arif Go,
He's louder on this album than he's ever been, so I'm not sure what you mean by that. As for where he went, uh, other than nowhere, google Jack Marks and the Lost Wages, I guess. He's gone country. If you can't hear him, it's because you're listening to either a transcoded leak or a shitty stream. Having heard the album lossless-ly (it's a word now), he's there.

I've only had the urge to play this album a few times, mainly for the Tapestry/Dunsel lyrics and feel.
This really failed to impress, but then again Fortress was the same way for me.

Last 2 albums were better. Lyrics on this are mostly terrible, which hurts the album as a whole.
