Only track I'm not liking that much so far is the closer.

Everything is Fire is like Mushrooms and The Destroyers of All is like Acid

My favourite right now has to be Cold Becoming, the way the song progresses is brilliant. It sounds

like a snow storm to end all of humanity.

Duderino, no one ever said they've run out of ideas.

maybe not explicitly but saying one album sounds the same as the one that preceded it implies a rehashing of old ideas as opposed to the introduction of new ones

Didnt like EIF that much so i wasnt sure what to expect. Right now its a solid 4, but the album sounds amazing. Drums are killer.

Well, technically it is rehashing than but in the case of these guys, they sound interesting even though the two albums don't really differ much. I guess they've found a unique style that's worth listening to over the course of two albums thus far. There are no new ideas on this but it's still just as good as Fire if you get my drift.

remember they did have another album which was quite different in sound, and the demos before that were different again. there are a lot of death metal bands that keep a similar sound for a long time, and just fine tune the production...

And these guys have done just that, nothing wrong with that either. I'm just surprised at the number of people saying this is different when it's more of the same good stuff.

meh its enough difference to make a new album, thats all i care about. i dont get how people could be like 'i never liked everything is fire, but this is awesome 4.5' though.

The familiarity of this album to EiF is certainly uncanny, but the pace of this release is way slower and I think the songwriting is better.

I think this album's similar to EiF in the same way that Symbolic was similar to ITP, Master of Puppets to Ride the Lightning, Blackwater Park to Still Life etc.

it's just a refinement and progression of the previous album's sound, there's nothing wrong with that.

anyways, I feel the need to state again how incredible the ending to Burning Skies is. One of my favorite moments in a metal album that I've heard in a long time.

"Blackwater Park to Still Life"

wuuut lol. the thematic emphasis and atmosphere of these two albums are quite distinct

yes, but they're still both progressive death metal albums -- they have different moods, but there are no fundamental differences in sound.
