even pestilence would be delusional to think that doctrine is any good, or at least anywhere near the quality of their early works.

maybe untouchable wasn't really the right wording for it but they used to be pretty damn fantastic.

are the vocals on Testimony more standard DM vocals as opposed to this more erratic approach?

nah im just being a douche. good band and a great album, though i personally dont hold it in a very high esteem. i naturally haven't and won't listen to anything that they've put out in the last ten years.

Pestilence was never very good. Their last album was good (the second half especially), but apparently it was a fluke cause the new one sucks too.

The vocals are probably my favorite part of this one.

trey have you heard this album (consuming impulse)? it's considered by many to be one of the greatest death metal albums recorded, one of those pivotal early 90s albums (of which there are many considered 'classics')

it's would be nothing like their later stuff

I admit that I haven't heard it in years, but I've heard every one of their albums at one time or another and never liked them (most due to the production). It's nothing against them or anything, I'm not that big on most death metal to begin with.

yeah I know that you like clean production, which pretty much explains why you don't listen to much older death metal.

though i would propose that you try your best to get past it, because there is just an overwhelming amount of awesome music from the genre in that time period. but yeah, that's just how i feel =P
