did I see someone use the name Tom Chevelle in a reference to the band Chevelle? Because the dudes in that band are named Loeffler...
anyways, I wouldn't necessarily call Chevelle copycats, but to say they formed in 1995 is a bit misleading. They weren't really a serious band until like 1998 or so (after Around the Fur). Still their first album sounded more like Tool than anything.

damn, I got distracted from what I wanted to say. chambered, it's not often that I read a Deftones review on any site, let alone Sputnik, and say "shit, that's why I like their music" but this review did it for me.
