The intro is arguably more interesting than the actual song.

Dance of Death had great production imo

Too much compression for my usual taste, Nicko's drumming sounds too leathery to me

True, but you can barely hear the drums on this album.

Yeah the intro to the title track is fucking sweet. I prefer it to the actual song, which is just solid Maiden.

The songs definetly seem to branch out from their respective intros into something completely different.

After about 10 listenings, I've bumped up my rating from an original 4 to a 4.5.

Better than both BNW and DOD, but not as good as AMOLAD. Maiden is BACK!!! :D

AMOLAD is bloody terrific, Mr. Vacuum Cleaner from the Teletubbies. This is just as good though.

great album, love it, el dorado may not be a good song, but it is covered up very fast with the rest of the cd, which is exellent, defenetly something not as classic, but i love it!

Musicianship is awesome for any Maiden album as always, which saves this from near unlistenability, but most of the songs aren't happening for me and the bloated intros don't help. Any album which takes 15 listens to finally appreciate equals a lost point in my view, particularly one that clocks in at 76 minutes plus change. Then again maybe my mind isn't open enough, or I'm just not a big enough Maiden fanboy to like this as much as others, to each their own.

Anyhow, after beating my brains on this for two weeks, tonight I decided to cure my Final Frontier blues and pop in The Number of the Beast, ah the Maiden I love.

Let the metal march on!

Heard a couple of previews and don't really understand the big deal - it just sounds like another maiden record........
