I have yet to come across a song by Trivium that i can listen to longer than a minute. I think it's rather generic, and more working on my nerves. I can see why people like it, but like it was already stated, there is better stuff out there for sure.
Good review :thumb:

Yet you dig Bullet for My Valentine. I dunno man. I'd rather have generic metal than generic metalcore. It's so hard to find good metalcore bands that I am that much more disgusted with all the impersonators and just plain old boring bands out there.
Norma Jean and From Autumn to Ashes particularly.

Well, to be honest: I do not really know why I listen to BFMV so often in comparasion to my other stuff, neither why I listen to Alexisonfire so often. Kind of a guilty pleasure.
And, I can only listen to BFMV as long as I do not pay attention to the lyrics. As regarding the musicl side, they are ok. Not great, but ok. Here I can find nothing that grips me in a positive way though.

i think the guitar in this is awesome. very, very fast picking and the vocals are great. i really like the album altogether tho. i completely agree with the best songs that you have up there.

This sounded like a pretty good album from wat everyone has said about it...but since ur review iv been having second thoughts on buying it

You seem to like the NWOAHM from your name, so I'd get it.
|
| |
trivium rock!
give them a fkn break man! hes only 19!!!
they completely deserve the recognition that they are getting
|
| |
Then every other new american band with good guitar players should be called musical progenies like them.
|
| |
They are pretty severely overhyped. Still, there's potential there. They're already pretty good at arranging songs and figuring out a coherent song structure, and they certainly have some technical skill. Go out and see some young local bands near you, and 9 out of ten of them have no idea about arranging, and so their music suffers.
Heafy's voice is really bugging me now though. And the constant scream/clean dynamic too...it's alright when you don't do it all the time, but EVERY SONG...
And if anybody's heard their song on the Underworld: Evolution soundtrack, Washing Away Me In The Tides, Heafy's already ripping off his own riffs...not a good sign...
|
| |
You don't rip off your own riffs, he happens to think that way about writing one hit album, so he thinks it's a good idea not to progress and make the same album twice.
|
| |
Well, maybe not rip off, but...listen to the melodic chorus of Like Light To The Flies, and then the melodic chorus of Washing Away Me In The Tides, they're very similar musically.
He may even have done it unintentionally, without even noticing. On the other hand, he may be doing what you said and sticking with what he knows.
Although apparently their new material is going to move away from screaming and more toward what Heafy calls 'heavy singing'...who knows, eh.

The problem is that his voice simply isn't good
thats fucking bullshit^^
|
| |
I hope so, he has a horrid screamin voice.
|
| |
i dont mind it, and even if you dont like it the guitar work more than makes up for it.
|
| |
I love this album! the solos are so well done and the riffs are solid...but the solos are repetitive. Pull Harder and Dying in Your Arms are my fav songs

This album has its moments. I guess I agree with the review though. It lacks a lot.
|
| |
You can't tell us to ignore the vocals, then say that we should listen to the album because they put a modern metal twist on it meaning to vocals. Corey Matt can shred yes, but so can the rest of the guitar players in the NWOAHM movement. They all sound very close if you listen.

With the potential these guys have, it's a shame that they're not writing good enough songs.
|

I can't wait till The Crusade comes out, it sounds like it'll be a lot better.

Well once these guys improve their songwriting abilites I'll be a huge fan. The talent is there, but they just haven't clicked yet.
