To be fair, with mj type reviews, I usually sort of have to focus and really delve into the concept and the vocabulary used, so that
it's almost like an essay. Which isn't inherently bad, it just means that at some moments I'm too lazy to discuss it.

But really I just wanted to make some type of response to brylawski speaking about people "starting shit for no reason".

You don't need to bring up pop culture for me to explain how the vocalist applies to it as a whole.

so I'm presuming that you're trying to argue with- "you can't judge the music based on what the vocalist/band was trying to do."

If that's off base, sorry, but that seems to be a general sentiment. And yes, I most certainly can make judgements based off this. You see, it's not like I'm critiquing based on intention, but rather on what I hear. I hear a band that sounds insincere and contrived. I feel like I back that up in my review with examples. People often cite things in reviews about emotions that the music gives the listener, how do they know that the band was trying to emit those emotions?? Well, they don't, but they're judging on what they hear, and it's a valid claim.

Normally, this aspect would be a little trivial, but my argument here is that it almost overtakes the music. It makes it unlistenable without hearing that quality that just screams "MAKE ME YOUR CULT CLASSIC!" at the top of its lungs, and it's not at all endearing.
