everything before and including this is his lo-fi work which is great but maybe a tougher place to start....maybe start with Tallahasse and work up and then start here and go back would be the best way to approach it

studio: start with Tallahassee, We Shall All Be Healed, The Sunset Tree, or the new one. You can't go wrong with any of those four.



my first tMG album was We Shall All Be Healed and they're now my favourite band, so start there maybe? my favourite album of theirs though is The Coroner's Gambit and it's a huge grower, so yeah, your call.

Another excellent Mountain Goats album. "Selling acid was a bad idea, selling it to a cop was a worse one." By far one of my favorite lyric of any song. "Best Ever Death Metal Band in Denton" solidifies this album as a classic Mountain Goats album.
