I absolutely love this album....I disagree with everything in the review. (I guess - I got bored half-way through reading it and decided to dl this anyways...glad I did too)



Has something of a Nostalgic sound to me, that really hits home and I agree with for some reason. Has a very Earthy sound, er, natural I guess I should say, that I really respect. Tir Nan Og almost sounds like a more Tribal version of what Andy McKee would do.

5 / 5 isn't premature. I've listened to this album for a few years now, literally thousands of times. It's the opposite of an album that wears thin. In fact, at the start I considered Niege's best works to be with Mortifera and Amesoeurs, but as this album grew on me, I had to rank it as the peak. It's godlike. It's the definition of an album that I can never get tired of, just like Agalloch, ...in the Woods, Beyond Dawn, and other emotionally artistic bands from the metal scene with a similar disposition and methodology.

Shoegaze is a style of modern rock played with heavily distorted guitars and poppy vocals. The name comes from how the guitar players would stare downwards at the distortion pedals because the "complexity" in shoegaze doesn't come from the chord progressions or rythyms, it comes from the textures and sounds the guitars make.



For a good introduction to the genre, get Loveless from My Bloody Valentine or anything from Slowdive.



For another band in the metal scene closely alligned with shoegaze, check out the amazing Jesu. Particularly Conqueror, Silver, and Opiate Sun.
