I wish this album was longer it's so damn short.

I've settled on a solid 4 for this.
Nine and Always Running, Never Looking Back rule so hard.

Album Rating: 4.5
Part of me wants to rate this 4.5 but i'm saving that rating for the new album.
idk, both this and that La Dispute album are both kinda on the border between a 4 and 4.5.
|
| |
both are solid 4.5s
This maybe less because of the length
|
| |
this is so much better than anything la dispute

i think the instrumentation on the La Dispute album is better than on here but after hearing "DARLING" for the 10,000th time in the course of one listen-through, the vocals start to get on your nerves.
i mean, the songs on that album are amazing, but i just never really feel like listening to the album as a whole.

there's many differing views on La Dispute (people I really identify with love them, others absolutely despise them, others indifferent) but rarely do I feel as sure in my personal assessment of an album (review-wise) as I did with Somewhere At the Bottom... which is sorta weird, dunno. But yeah, it's good. Not much more.

Album Rating: 4.5
I think the Somewhere at the Bottom may be slightly better than this but I've listened to this many more times. Length has to do with it though.

why are they even being compared
theyre completely different bands
|
| |
agreed totally kris
they just always get compared because they tour together and have a split together and have virtually the same fanbase
I've always found it weird that a lot of modern post-hardcore/hardcore/screamo all gets lumped together but I unno I'm a genre stickler so...
|
| |
they get compared because they are both "wave" acts. although they get compared a lot more than other bands in that scene do.

all those genres are offshoots of punk. I think of it as one big family reunion
|
| |
hardcore, post hardcore, screamo, grind and metalcore that doesn't sound like august burns red.
