Really enjoying this today, this sardonic wrath and hate them all got reissued recently so i picked them all up as i attempt to get closer to getting hold of the last couple of darkthrone releases i don’t have. I don’t know what it is about the mid era albums but i feel like they have a really cool and bleak feel to them. Pleasantly suprised at how good they’ve been considering reviews like this one and others seem to generally shit all over their mid era stuff.

i'll give you all of that sans mayhem bc grand dec of war is really iffy.

if its one album you dont like thats whatever but some act like they went completely to shit after de mysteriis

not even wolfs lair abyss gets enough love

and dont get me wrong im not saying these albums are amazing, but the stuff i brought up you can tell at least these guys thought they were each heading in interesting directions

they didnt diverge from bm for the $$$ and they certainly didnt cash in by self-plagiarising and selling you the same album over and over again, although ironically that would have made more metalderps happier if they had!
