What do you think The Unseen Empire will be like? I heard a video with samples on youtube and it should be great.

I dunno... I highly doubt if they release something that will satisfy people. I do, however, expect some new material to listen to, since all of their previous stuff grew off me from listening too much :P

And guys, about that "power metal vocals" and "metalcore vocals" bullshit... you do realize that it's impossible to class vocals like that? Mostly because such a classification depends more on the singer's timbre itself than on his technique. Dream Theater's vocalist sounds like Brett Manning or Robbie Williams for example, that's why he annoys the shit out of everybody. The Mars Volta's singer, on the other hand, sounds like a metalcore teenager or a punkster - that doesn't make the band core. This is just this guy's voice. You get the picture.

Dammit. This album keeps deceiving me into thinking it's a good album. I'm running it now and I want to hit up its rating to 3 again.

I actually like this abomination. Maybe because i'm the biggest Scar Symmetry fan boy ever...But this album has really grown on me and it's pretty fuckin' sweet

I wish I could hate this album to death. I wouldn't care so much if it was a different band, but 3
albums then this shit is just awful. production sucks, clean vocals are abysmal and music is horribly
boring. there's only a few good parts on here. NEVER FORGIVE THESE NIGGAS 4 LETTIN' ME DOWN

Listened to Holographic Universe a while ago, sooooo much better than this. But this album has the strange property of actually seeming good at the moment I listen to it and making me hate it when I don't.

Well, there are four songs that are sweet. Nonhuman Era, Sculptor Void, A Parenthesis in Eternity and Pariah are all really good. The rest is either bad, boring or rehashed.

I remember not being too big on this when I first heard it, mostly because I couldn't stand the thought of SS without Christian and the band having to replace him with not one, but two vocalists making it feel like an unconfident choice on the band's part. I've warmed up to it over time, and subsequent albums after this have been even better. Still waiting on Phase II though...

This album could really use a re-recording. It's the mix and mastering here that's mostly holding it back

I'd be down for a remaster, both to give it a better sound and give it a second chance instead of it being maligned just because it was hot off Christian leaving, there's still some good stuff here.

Yeah, but the guitars sound so indistinct at times that they sound like a garbled mess and hold back the sung choruses instead of supporting them. So yeah, it's not the songwriting, nor the vocals on this album that are the problem, it's the production
