I praise the Lord every day that he has sent people like redsparrow to depart unto me the facts of music.
Thank you Lord for his infinite knowledge of music, a matter that I personally know very little about.

Absolutely not their weakest in any way shape or form greg84, I don't get it, I don't even know if anyone really loves or hates the album anymore. It seems people wanna hate it so bad, so in response people overly love it back. Great album, that's all there is to it. They've produced 4 extremely well written discs for all the world to enjoy

It's all good, leave redsparrow alone, let him jam his Yellowcard, AFI, and Taking Back Sunday while I listen to the album of the year, to each their own

"It seems people wanna hate it so bad"
what are you talking about? everyone loves this. i love brand new, i wanted to love this.
"Any people i've seen criticise this have in the same sentence begged them to go back to YFW and Deja days. Fuck those people."
there is literally nothing wrong with making comparisons, you know, as the band did make those other albums as well as daisy. we just all have different opinions on the matter. i'm done bashing it, if i ever write a review i'll put my thoughts forth then towards the content.

Just want to clarify something here: despite my disliking for the record, I give them props for trying something different; I don't want them to make a record for me or to go back to their previous sound. I just want to be content with what they'll produce next.

it isn't a problem with the style of music they've chosen to do, it's how they presented it.

It is in fact being raped by music critics and fans alike...Just take a look to other reviews on Daisy's wiki, metacritic and well, everywhere.
uhhhhh this has a 74 on metacritic which is actually pretty positive feedback

also can't wrap my head around this either
Brand New usually don't make promotion to their records, this one is getting a lot but sellings are flopping.

@iarescientists
do you actualy went to read the reviews? even the mildly positive ones that gave 3/5 stars talk about this record been somewhat a misfire. To tell you the truth, if this wasn't Brand New, it won't be hated by me or pretty much anyone else because we wouldn't care. but it woudn't be loved either.
i have some nielsen soundscan numbers and things aren't going well sale wise either. brand new own to their fanbase (myself included since I've bought the record) any success this will get. i'm hearing about people buying eight, three copies alone. just take a look on Brand New livejournals.

to say "if this wasn't brand new" is just such an asinine statement. if this wasn't brand new this album wouldn't exist because brand new wouldn't have made it. there's really no point in discussing hypotheticals. if i was a zebra i wouldn't be having this discussion with you right now but i'm not a zebra i'm a human being with a fucking computer and i'm talking to you no matter how little attention you'll actually pay to me in order to twist my words to make a retort that has absolutely nothing to do with what i'm arguing.
and since when do sales matter. they may have started as a pop-punk band pandering to listeners trying to grow a fanbase, but those days are long gone. you can tell they resent being famous and hate the fact that now whenever they release an album they're going to get some backlash for making the music they want to make instead of pandering to their early fans. which is a fucked up thing for fans to expect.

sales are entirely irrelevant as to whether or not something sounds good. that shouldn't even be an argument. I think the point that he's trying to convey is that if it wasn't the band 'brand new' no one would care to listen to it and would be more harsh on it.

nice review, excellent album

it's an abrasive album that isn't as accessible as the stuff people would normally expect from brand new. fan's expectations are a huge burden to overcome.

anticipation and hype often make things seem less than what you were expecting. i for one don't mean to compare it to their last album, but it's difficult not to. it's like when coke released 'new coke' obviously people were pissed because it sucked ass compared to the original. i wasn't asking for the same album, or anything anywhere near as good as it, but also not something borderline average at the same time.

If I listened to this and had no idea it was Brand New I'd love it just as much, if not more because I wouldn't be missing the lyrical quality from the last two BN records. That said, this is the album that cemented me as a BN fan.

are you old enough to remember the new coke?

I still havent heard this and i'm too lazy too download it. Oh well, i can always count on somebody to whore Brand New's material ona consistent basis.
