I never said it was different. It's really just a fresh approach to a tired genre and it kicks ass.

Undeniably a solid album, but not a a patch on The Fury or Last Kind Words in my eyes. Or rather, ears.

The massive circle pits during Devildriver's set is probably the only reason to even consider going to the Download Festival these days

agreed. Whole album is actually. "Fate Stepped In" and "Back With A Vengeance" are my favourites. The latter has just such awesome captivating riffs. Can't stop headbanging to it.

I'd start with their previous release instead Observer.

definitely not. This or Fury Of Our Makers Hands are the ones you should start with Gregory.

The Last Kind Words is their best imo, though the others Styles mentioned are all damn good. So you should get them all

man i keep checking out the stuff you guys are diggin and it's effin hilarious.
i saw one band called the ruins of beverest or something or maybe it was an album but whatever, like... do you even KNOW where or what beverast was?... or if it ever existed?
some bands are so creative man, why didnt they just call themselves gates of era so more suicidalist metal monkeys can say, "hey, cool, another band i can pwn other music-listeners with when they say the slightest pro about a less destructive and afterlife-obsessed group!"
....the last kind words was better, hands down.
|
| |
Worst band I've ever seen live hands down.
|
| |
I love how the band has shifted some of focus away from heaviness to allow melody to permeate song structures. The groovy, melodic tone of the album cements it, in my mind at least, as their best album to date.
