Nerdy stupid topic incoming but fuck it: anyone had good/bad experiences with the Rudy Van Gelder versions/remasters of all the blue note records? It ruined this album for me until I found the original mix. Way too bright, headache inducing, etc. Just me or?

Asking as Spotify seems to only have the RVG’s and I don’t want to turn myself off from a bunch of good records because the mix sucks. E.g. I’m second guessing my opinion on Out For Lunch! because that’s RVG and it hurt my heard. But maybe it was just dolphy’s ridiculouslessness idk.

This guy has the most incredible body of work. I think this probably places (5th?) from the ones I have heard (behind Om, Love Supreme, Giant Steps & Meditations… Ole Coltrane is also close)
I should explore further tho.

I find myself returning to this and ALS most frequently. There's no denying the genius of MFT, A/B and Meditations tho. Trane is the mane. I gotta jam more of his stuff.
