"Interesting" indeed.
But anyway, getting back to Thursday's new album, I was just checking a few of my notes and I wanted to write a little more about the track ordering, but that got thrown aside for a 5 paragraph review (unheard of for me).
The track ordering is almost a blessing & a curse in one. In theory, it works well with the more experimental numbers grouped together in the middle of the album and the 2 slower tracks placed perfectly to provide a break in pace. However, as I mentioned earlier in the comments section, it probably leaves (imo) the best 5 songs as the first 3 & last 2, which is not perfect since it means that some listeners will feel the middle section really drags.

Your War All The Time comparison is spot on. Very well written review, man.
Common Existence is spinning on my ipod since Feb and I don't think it'll stop anytime soon. One of my favorite records of the year.

Ta Batman. Appreciated.
Not that I've heard all that many of the so-called best albums of '09, but I have this as either #1 or #2 of the year right now.

Haha yeah, look at my '09 top ten list, it's my #2 right now too.

You Were the Cancer is the best song on here

Yeah Batman, I liked your list. I'm still to listen to As Cities Burn & Manchester Orchestra, but they are both on my list.
I'm starting to come around to that popular opinion foreverendeared. I still have '... Mountain' just ahead of it, but probably not for much longer. The opener has also grown on me a lot of late.

yeah my top 3 would probably be You Were the Cancer, Resuscitation of a Dead Man, followed closely by As He Climbed the Dark Mountain.

Ok, many will be happy to know that after yet another listen to this album, I now realize that 'You Were The Cancer' is indeed the album highlight.

Ok, so I'm a little slow sometimes.
Maybe you need to give this album another listen to realise that it's better than a 3.
