This may sound like a joke but acid does literally change your perspective and you may be
able to appreciate the album more.

I hate the saying "Don't knock it 'til you try it." Think about it for more than three seconds and you'll realize how retarded it is.
I don't like getting raped, and I'm not going to try it just to make sure.

but by the definition of rape its not up to you whether you try it or not.

have you ever read a dfelon review before?
good point, but I guess all the arguments here are very hard to grasp(unlike his other, terrific reviews) and them big words just add to the confusion.

I was just trying to show it was a weak analogy, nothing more, nothing less.

You can apply the same logic to other examples, then. I don't like eating my own feces, but I'm not going to make sure by trying it.
Regardless, it's stupid and off topic. If you want to drop a tab of acid and listen to Mastodon, be my guest.

Terrific review. My least favorite Mastodon record. Often they sound unfocused overly-hyper. Way,way too many uninspired guitar solos, metalcore vocals and weird touches like organ riffs and electronic bells. What happened to the incrediably fast and technical sludgey doom? Finally, track 6 "Crack the Skye", Neurosis on speed, then all of a sudden ruined by an Emo chorus, followed by clean vocals. Did they really need 3 styles of vocals in one song. This is not an improvement, this is not development, this is simply wanking off....and just one album ago, they were the tightest most economical metal band on the planet. This Message Edited On 03.25.09

The vocals are pretty bad in the video that was posted a few pages back.
I never thought that Brent/Troys vocals were stellar or anything, but...damn....

My personal opinion of mastodons albums.
Remission>Leviathan>Crack the Skye>Blood Mountain>Call of the Mastodon.
ALSO: Seriously, stop trying to clean sing, your harsh vocals are way better and add more energy to the songs.

You're a fucking moron. Of course you can make assumptions but you don't know for sure you will or won't like a movie etc . Yes you know getting shot isn't fun without trying it, but you don't know that mushrooms are good on pizza innately. And you only know you don't want to eat your feces because you're familiar with feces. The same goes for rape.
