Why did they call the album Gatefold
|
| |
they didn't. the album is self titled.

Okay cool, I'll just start here.

while with orchid i feel like they're less direct, lots of cacophonous bursts and odd experimental moments that are transitioned really interestingly.
I'll agree with enotron in this, and I gotta say that I think orchid's lyrics are better than those of ampere.Or,if you like, more interesting.

yeah the lyrics on here are great, though I hate the way he says you're charitable sense of objectivity does not exxxiisst

heh, fair enough, though I believe he makes it up with the way he sings on the entire album, for example,on loft party(first track that came to my mind) I really love his voice

Yeah, sarcasm and all that. Why has sputnik named a s/t album after its packaging. It's not like the band specifically attack the idea of commercialism in the hardcore scene in the liner notes or anything.

sputnik didn't coin the name, 'gatefold' has been used to describe the record in most places, including the band's label.
|
| |
also calling an album gatefold has little if anything to do with "commercialism in the hardcore scene."

been popping into all the active screamo threads with orchid talk, finally picked up chaos is me yesterday. liking it a lot more than i did when i listened awhile ago, but does this have the same muffled production that has? the CiM review praised ballou's production, and maybe it's a recording issue more than a produciton one but everything sounds so distant to me, it's bad IMO even for a screamo album. not detrimental to the quality or anything but i wish it was a little better.
|
| |
the term 'gatefold' is commonly used for when referring to LPs, gatefold LPs have covers that open up
however i own this on cd and it's not a gatefold, so I can't really say where it came from (unless it's simply from the LP, though I don't own a copy of it on vinyl)
|
| |
nah this is a bit better i guess. still pretty raw but there's more definition to the guitar sound.
oddly enough, the cd copy i own of chaos is me/dt!rt! is a gatefold.
|
| |
its the same with Tera Melos's 2005 release, which does not have a title but is s/t on here. as much as id like everything to be perfect on a site where most of the content is user-submitted there's bound to be slight mistakes here and there, but a lot of people call that album s/t anyways, so it's not really that inaccurate to name it that.
|
| |
word well itll probably grow on me, ive been able to get past some horrible production in the past, it just caught me off guard on first listen. but beyond that i really thought they had a nice sound
|
| |
listen to some raw bm and then revisit stuff you used to think had shitty production. it's like having a new pair of ears.
|
| |
i think bm sucks in general so that doesnt really do anything for me
