Uh, that shit you talk don't move me nada
The dudes with the Qs be proper
Uzi pop, you news and choppers
It's truly lava, who knew we prosper
The game's a bitch, who we gotta
The shoes, Louie products, groupie blah blah
Santana, Zeek the Koofie popper
We the movie shotta
But it's really rude boys and rosters
When they trendin' all the girls, excuse me shoppa
[thats not down and out but its my favie]

Harlem Shake? Nah, I'm in Harlem shaking the weight
Shaking to bake, shaking the Jakes
Kill you, shoot the funeral up and Harlem Shake at your wake
this one's gotta be one of mine
|
| |
also the lines "Shit, they'll put the dogs in the trunk
Side of the road, holding you up, cold as a fuck
They want that button, lunge it and push it
Soon as they lunge it and push it, I run in the bushes"
are so stirring to me when placed over the sort of looped "breakdown" section of the Hill Street Blues theme song
and then how it launches back into "That's how I play mine, jump over the grapevine
Take my chances, one on one with the K9" with the main melody playing whew

so many quotables on here

I feel like the beat to "get down" belongs on a syllabus of a class about hip-hop or hip-hop sampling or whatever insofar as I often see sampled beats as, in part or sometimes at least, a way of teaching the world to hear your peculiar way of "mishearing" a song/source material, and this one, where the meat of the beat ends up repeating the [never said we couldn't] "get down!," the fifth and sixth chords of the source material held in perpetuity that sort of transforms the song and gets us to hear the sample in a different way even after we've heard the whole sample? chad hamilton on the beat
