To me, this cd feels as if they used extra songs that weren't good enough to be on TAOM and made an album of them. If that makes any sense.

While not as good as The Always Open Mouth, its still a solid record, middle section in particular.

This is actually a pretty decent album. Expected a little bit more from them since they put out the Epic & Awesome "The always open mouth" , but hey at least they changed it up a little bit and not become stale with the same sound. Really great melodies and hooks also.
Im not sure i liked how they shortened their band name down, I thought "Fear before the march of flames" was just fine . Anyone know for what reason why they did that?
But yeah this deserves a little higher rating, im going to go submit mine right about...Now.

i think i read somewhere that most just would refer to them as fear before when theyd talk about them, so they said 'why not?'
not sure that thats the case, but i mean it makes sense. same thing with acronyms for bands.

While this album is lyrically awful and they aren't as brutally technical and artsy as their previous album, it's still an awesome listen.

I think the lyrical shift is because Dave wrote more of the lyrics on this album...that said I honestly prefer a lot of his lyrical ideas because they're a little more straight forward and sometimes just downright odd. The album took a very long time to grow on me but for the last few months I at least listen to it about once a day. I think its completely absurd to try to compare any of they're releases because their all so dramatically different from one another which is probably what I enjoy the most about them.

Great album. Wonder how much the next CD will differ from this one. Im sure it will be a radical change, every album of theirs has a completely different sound.

Same. I think it'll continue somewhat in this more progessive direction though.

For some reason, I really like the album cover. And I haven't listened to this.

There is a part on 2:31 to 3:05 on Jabberwocky where the guitar sounds really similar to a pretty big radio song from like 7-10 years ago. I know this is a shot in the dark, but maybe somebody remembers.
edit: doy!
